Lmao, reminds me. When i first got with my now wife, she was flustered because of the boundaries i clearly laid out. One being, its my phone, you dont need to know the passcode. Same for her, i never asked for hers because in my mind, i wouldnt have even bothered to date her if i wasnt willing to trust her.
Now.she had trust issues and i dont blame her, she got fucked over by the very few boyfriends she had, including a highschool sweetheart she dedicated 7 years to. So i understood but my boundaries are there for a reason.
Itnobviously annoyed her but she dealt with it, i imsgine because i afforded her the same courtesy. She is her own person, a phone has everything on it these days and its a personal thing.
Long story short, like a year and a half goes by and my phone gets a message. I thought, ah, fuck, i couldnt be arsed dealong with it; "Babe, could you check that message for me, please?" She goes "… i dont know your passcode" the look on her face after i told it to her was priceless 😂
Point is, my boundaries created more trust than not. 10 years later weve never searched each others phones and were doing great.
Hobestly, if you suspect theres something going on so bad that you need to check their phone, why are you even wasting your time. If i got the thought that something was off, I would confront her directly and use my own instincts to make a decision moving forward. My insecurities are not a valid reason to invade her privacy and vice versa.
