I used to think that pushing back the cuticles and trimming them was a necessary part of nail care because my mom taught me to do it as a kid. Now I find that I really donโt have to worry about that much at all, and my nails are actually much healthier with less care. All I do is trim them with occasional cuticle care (like a few times a year) and sometimes nail polish. I actually dislike getting professional manicures and nail jobs because theyโre so rough on my hands and damage the nails. I always get tons more hangnails afterward, and it takes many weeks for the healthy, smooth nails to grow back.
